Discretion (2015.035)

I was on the phone as I saw the dog racing along the path next to the frozen water. The ball bounced along before curving to the left and falling onto the ice.

The dog screeched to a halt at the water's edge. (I always find it amusing when they stop by dropping onto their rear haunches, as if "pulling the handbrake")

The dog then stood looking at the ball for some thirty seconds, as if deciding whether to go for it. Eventually, it concluded that discretion was the better part of valour, and wandered off.
