Like a flash

We live in the middle of a little wood that is partly a conservation area. But pooch (& the wife's rabbit proof fence) means that whilst we see a lot of wildlife not much of it stays in our garden.
Sat writing my speech for this weekends NICAS (National Indoor Climbing Awards Scheme) my eye was drawn to a flash of movement - the female pheasant breaking from cover (wow is her camouflage effective) and making a dash for it across an open section of ground.
Perhaps all the pheasants have heard the tale of the time Pushka removed the tail from one unfortunate male.
