Until next season

Yep, it's nearly the end of the cherries. What a treat they are!

They were a bit late this year and Dad and I didn't have any at Christmas. Cherries are very much a Mum thing. She loved them.

It was the last thing I bought the little Mother ship. I arrived with a big box of them two days before she died. They were huge, like small plums. Dad cut the flesh off the stones and slowly and patiently fed them to Mum.

It was a lengthy process. There was no hurry, just the slow dawning realisation for me that right to the end Mum's life was full of meaning; the love for her family and taste.

I think my little Mother ship would want me to enjoy some cherries now :-)
