'The Longbow Instructor'

After work tonight, Dylan and I headed out to the Archery Club again to do some more practise.

This bloke was showing us the difference between the traditional longbow and the recurve bows that we were using. The longbow is the most traditional type of bow and also the simplest in design. There are no sights or any other bells and whistles on them to help you with accuracy. It all comes down to skill with these babies.

To give you an idea of the strength required to shoot one, I'm learning using a 20lb bow, this guy's longbow is a 40lb bow and he was saying that in the old days guys used to use bows of up to 110 or more pounds, and they had enormous arm muscles that built up over time. Don't reckon I'd have a hope in hell of shooting an arrow with one of those.
