Another day, another city

Today we travelled to Winchester.  From growing up visiting this place as a child, now travelling backwards and forwards for uni, and myself and my hubby visiting Winchester more and more, we are really beginning to love the place.  We started the day off with a walk along the river, walking past Wolvesey castle and Jane Austen's house.  Then headed through the cathedral grounds.

We visited another cathedral today - obviously this time Winchester.  It is a beautiful place, with crypt underneath.  A little piece of information regarding the statue:

'This mysterious life-size statue of a man contemplating the water held in his cupped hands is the work of the celebrated British sculptor Antony Gormley. You can find Sound II, fashioned from lead out of a plaster cast of the artist’s own body, in the Cathedral crypt, which floods during rainy months.'

The water levels are really low at the moment so the water is around the ankles, other times during the year it is often up to his knees.
The cathedral is a lovely place to sit and think, a little busier than yesterday at Salisbury cathedral, but an interesting place nonetheless.

It's been a great couple of days, the weather is due to turn rainy tomorrow so may have to opt for some indoor shots.  But lets see what the day brings.
Happy half term one and all!!
