A Day Of Marches ........ and more

It was Students Day .......... a day when the students get dressed up , have a drink and go on a march.
It took over an hour for them all to pass where we were staying.

The next march was the Neo-Nazis.

The students had help to cross the roads.
The Neo-Nazis had a slightly higher profile escort.
It was obvious that the police were expecting trouble and came prepared.........dozens of vans and hundreds of fully equipped police.
They even brought their scuba gear - actually it was CS gas in bulk which could be dispensed with a lance like a high pressure hose.

Many of the elderly residents wanted to know why they were allowed to march.

It was a good question because their march finished at the same location and time as the next march was due to start ............ the Gay Pride march.

Of course there was a delay in the start of that march due to the small riot that broke out with thunder flashes, fireworks and missiles being thrown. But the water canon and sound canon were not used although they were there.
Unfortunately the marchers were completely coralled by riot police and you could hardly see them ....... for their own safety because the Neo-Nazis were doing their best to get ahead of them to disrupt it.

It was all rather surreal with all the thousands of tourists sitting at the bars and walking about the market stalls all round the market square.

We had our own 'march' in the afternoon when we walked down to the Schindler Factory which is now a museum.
On route we came across this art installation which is almost next to the remains of the railway line that took people from the ghetto to the concentration camps.

Despite appearances - this fool was sober.
She was trying to replicate the 'damsel in distress on the railway' pose.
The ghostly bike didn't really add creadance
