Before the concert

A busy day. Didn't sleep too well last night, and just as happy when the alarm went off to have an excuse to turn over and get some more zzzzzzzzzz's because it was dull and very misty outside. We'd arranged last night to get together in the centre of Freiburg old town at 11:00, and I was out and about in plenty of time to get my Freiburg bearings and still meet the guys on time. We had coffee near the cathedral, went off wandering for a bit and then stopped off for lunch before splitting up.

The weather gradually cleared up as the day went on, but it was far from summery even at the best of times. I found my way back to my hotel and grabbed a quick nap before heading out once again to meet Bernard at the magnificent Konzerthaus for a concert given by the world-famous Freiburg Baroque Orchestra. We were there in plenty of time to wander around and grab some fresh air as the clouds had finally lifted. This view is from one of the concert hall's terraces, looking towards the central train station and the towers of a church whose name I forget.

Ron came to meet us after the concert (very good, improving as it went on, but much longer than we'd expected). We stopped off at a little eatery so I could be fed and split up shortly after midnight, having agreed to meet tomorrow morning around 9:30 at Rathaus square. We'll either meet Zurich Martin in Basel or go for a drive to the Shauinsland cable car ride up a bit of a mountain.
