Tuesday's walk with Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers was along part of the Thomas Muir Way (not to be confused with the John Muir Way, although these share the same route in places) from Kirkintilloch to Clachan of Campsie.

Most of the walk was along the route of the old Campsie Branch line of the Edinburgh to Glasgow railway which, according to the information board affixed to the bridge at Milton of Campsie was opened on 5th July 1848 and closed on 4th April 1966.

Not only has the railway path undergone a transformation over the past few years, but the station at Milton of Campsie has been extensively tidied up and restored by a group of volunteers from the village, with help from East Dunbartonshire Council.
