Gutters, Roofs And Chimneys

We went to Helmsley today to meet up with Mrs madwill's mother and sister, our daughter and granddaughter came along too. Interesting journey there - Sutton Bank (the main road) was closed and there was no signed detour. we managed across country and passed a couple of interesting looking places, including Byland Abbey, which we may go back to visit another time.

It was quite busy as it was market day (what there was of it - seemed to be about a dozen stalls and one of those was packing up at 11:30).

We wandered around a bit and whilst the ladies were in a shop I waited outside with the pushchair. I liked this view of the roofs receding into the distance - and a nice dark grey sky.

Later we went along to Kirkbymoorside and had a very nice lunch in a little cafe based in an old bank. It still had the old wooden panels and heavy wooden counter inside.
