Going a bit wobbly

Just back from a mad few days in London - it is astonishing just how much you can cram into a long weekend! We stayed in a very funky hotel in Spitalfields, arrived then shot out, sped around the Saachi Gallery (excellent) then went to have supper with Shaamie and Ali - much chat good food and lots of wine (some of us!). Himself and I then ambled back to our hotel via the Southbank, everywhere lit up and sparkly.
Day 2 - joined by my brother and we all met up with Shaamie again who took us on a  whirlwind tour of the markets around Spitalfields, and there were lots of them!  He then went home and Barry and I headed off to the Sam Wanamaker theatre in the Globe to see  Farinelli & the King starring Mark Rylance. A tiny intimate little theatre lit by candles. The play was astonishing about a melancholy king who could only be lifted by the singing of Farinelli, a castrati. The singing was spine tingling! My brother shot off to Heathrow where his plane to Manchester was delayed 3 hours and I joined Himself who'd been to Tate Modern. Wrecked!
Day 3 - up early and off to St Paul's for we realised we had never been. On the advice of one of the guides we did the hard bit first - yes, we climbed 10 million very teeny steps all the way up to the base of the dome. The views were incredible!  Next stop Tate Britain-  what an amazing space this is and just full of all the old favourites. It is also London Fashion week and things were going on behind closed doors.
Totally wrecked we then staggere back to Stansted where the whole of Italy was waiting for a plane.
A bit of a bumpy arrival but about 10 minutes into our journey home the most appalling weather broke out - gales, hail, lightening. So glad we were down before that!
Chips and Arthouse tonight - something Italian. proper catch up tomorrow.
