Natural History Museum: central hall stairs

The NHM is certainly keeping me entertained photographically; I hope they're not too random though.

The light was amazing today: it was very changeable in the museum, but the bright, directional light sometimes made many of the ceramic and stone surfaces look almost metallic. I took this photo looking down the stairs from the second to the first floor of the central hall: from the Sequoia in the lower middle of my photo from Tuesday, down towards where the stairs fork over the archway.

It was such a hot day: the museum started off wonderfully cool, but by the early evening, the top of the central hall had dramatically warmed up such that it was still pleasantly cool on the ground floor, but as you went up towards the second floor it became more and more uncomfortably hot and stuffy.
