Twirly Froozels

These are the dangly moulting strands on the underneath of this Red Grouse.
Seriously, I went over to NT  Longshaw today, as I am hoping to do some more general volunteering there, as the Fungus Survey is winding down somewhat this year. I went via on of my favourite birding spots, where Ring Ouzels nest in the Spring - too early yet, I'm sure, but if they were there, they were certainly not showing themselves - the wind was bitterly cold. The Red Grouse are reliably up there on the moorland, and are not so hard to spot. This is a bird that is a common sighting for us, and its odd to think that there are people who seldom, if ever get to see them.
