The humble daffodil

There are so many photos of daffodils around at the moment, but these are special as they are home grown narcissi by Gavin's green fingers! Did you know that narcissi produce a number of different alkaloids, which may be poisonous if eaten. However, this property has been used for medicinal healing and has resulted in the production of galantamine for the treatment of Alzheimer's dementia, so daffodils are useful as well as being pretty.

Today they are finishing the bathrooms, and apart from a few outstanding things that are still on order (a shower door, the wooden top of the unit housing a loo) they are essentially done. What a difference! However, now the painting of the bedrooms and landing starts, and then when the painters move outside to start on the window frames I will finally be free of people constantly being in the house. My tea making services will also thankfully come to an end. (I had quite long orders to memorise!)

And tomorrow Luke arrives home. Yippee!
