Victorian Studio Portrait

I'm dipping into my Victorian Album again to show the first photograph which highlights the high status of the young man who shows all the trappings of a wealthy Scottish laird. This is a studio portrait by John McLaren of Larbert (as indicated on the right). Props  hint at the substantial country house and shooting estate,  reinforced by the deerstalker hat, gun dog at his master's feet and calm air of authority and superiority.
The close-up showing the detail in reversed to aid the composition as I thought it would be interesting to show the photo in situ in the album with all the gravitas of gold embellishments, thick card and a metal clasp to hold secure.
