Craigieburn tarns

The Craigieburn Range is 100km from Christchurch. It's a playground for many of us but not many know it has a series of tarns (small mountain lakes).

It's a bit of a grunt to get to them, a circuit with plenty of interest. An honest kind of trip in a very special place.

The highlight for me was seeing four stags in the open. One ran in front of us, unusually close for a stag with a few years of wisdom. The other three kept higher and crossed well above us.  A couple of them had majestic heads of antlers.

The Roar has begun on deer farms and won't be far away in the wild. In a few weeks their social camaraderie will change to fighting to sort out supremacy with the hinds.

A wonderful day. My heart and soul are restored :-)

I've heard a rumour circulating about the demise of blip. Does anyone know anything?
