Wanderings & Witterings

Braid Hills, Edinburgh

This Wednesday's walk with Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers was up and over Braid Hills and then Blackford Hill in Edinburgh.

We met at Haymarket Station and took the bus over to the Water of Leith Visitor Centre, where we settled down to a rather splendid cup of coffee. Seemed a shame to start walking after that, but we set off past the University and through Morningside to enter the Hermitage of Braid and Blackford Hill local nature reserve. A walk up to the Braid Hills viewpoint, from where this photo was taken, then a steep walk down and over to Blackford Hill where we had a wee climb up to the viewpoint. The views from both hills made the effort worthwhile, though.

A good, dry day with the sun trying hard - but not quite succeeding - in breaking through. A bus back into Edinburgh and the train home completed a rather enjoyable day out.
