Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve

Our walk through the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve didn't reveal as many birds, reptiles, insects or animals as we expected. To be fair, we had been spoiled by the number and variety of wildlife seen in our trip up until this point, so our expectations we higher than they ought to have been. And, as our tour guide said, "this isn't a zoo, these are animals in their natural habitat." Point taken.

Nevertheless, the flora (if not the fauna) was spectacular and our inability to spot the many birds that we could certainly hear in the forest meant we could spend a little more time admiring the plants and trees that surrounded us. The size, shape and shades of these trees was certainly spectacular, so I've posted one as a record of our time in the forest.

A very pleasant walk, and the shade that the trees provided from the bright tropical sun was also much appreciated.
