Later:

I originally thought I was going to end up dealing with this shot on my iPhone as I was in London for the day. But the meetings ran to time, I caught the trains I needed to catch and (amazingly) they were not unusually delayed.  So I arrived home with a little time to try something different.  This involved, the mirror, a tripod, the flashgun under a pillowcase balanced on a stool triggered remotely and finally the camera.  The easiest part was getting me in focus.  The hardest part was trying to get the thing exposed in any sort of satisfactory way.  I realise that I need a light box ... :-)
