Praying for better weather

Every holiday has to have one miserable day - and this was it. The uncharacteristically hot weather came to an end with heavy overnight rain which continued for the whole of the day. The forecast predicted showers, so we tried to be optimistic, and set off mid-morning for Pegeia Forest, on the other side of the island, but when we arrived the rain was even heavier and it was only 12C! Most of us didn't even get out of the car.

The rain eased off a little in the afternoon, which is when I photographed this immature praying mantis, and eventually Chris, Pete and I decided to brave the mizzle and go for a local walk. My boots were soaked almost immediately. We decided to follow one of the nature trails which went uphill, but it was surprisingly muddy, the limestone rocks were slippery and in the end we all agreed we just weren't having fun.

In the evening we headed out to our local restaurant  in Latchi for a cheer-up meal, but they were holding a music night and were full. So we went to the restaurant next door which was almost empty, and had a perfectly nice meal, but it wasn't up to the standard of our favourite, though they did throw in a free carafe of wine, which was much appreciated!
