Birthday Pie

On the ninety-five
heading north to Tonopah
stopping for a look

It was a leisurely drive to Tonopah, Nevada from Las Vegas. (The name means “little water”.) Tonopah is the site of one of the oldest and most productive silver mining areas with many former mines in evidence. Tonopah is also known as the “#1 Stargazing Destination in the USA” with clear evening skies offering a great view of the heavens above. We arrived before 4 PM to land an RV site convenient to the casino and its restaurant.

It was D's birthday so he had a T-bone steak for dinner. No birthday cake so a slice of pecan pie a la mode had to suffice. He didn't complain and it disappeared rather quickly.
