Almond blossom

Today's the day ....................... for the palest pink

My favourite of the spring blossoms has to be from the almond tree.  It's the first one to get going and it is such a delicious colour - pinkish white - or do I mean whitish pink? 

Almond blossom was a favourite of Vincent van Gogh too.  He painted them many times particularly between 1888 and 1890 when he was in Saint-Remy in Southern France. Flowering trees in general were special to Van Gogh. They represented awakening and hope. He enjoyed them aesthetically and found joy in painting them.

He painted one in 1880 with the title - 'Almond Blossoms'' - to celebrate the birth of his nephew and namesake, son of his brother Theo and sister-in-law Jo...................
