Viburnum bodnantense

Today's the day ........................ to speak too soon

I've been waxing a bit lyrical recently about how spring has sprung - and I really should have known better.

This is what we woke up to this morning - a covering of slushy snow all over the garden.  Those spring flowers must have been in shock, wondering what was happening.  I felt much the same myself.  This is the sweet-scented blossom on the Viburnum bodnantense  which has been out for quite a while now.

But I shall take heed of that old proverb that tells us to - 'ne'er cast a clout til May be out'.  In other words, I'll wait until I have seen blossom on the Hawthorn or May bushes before I get the summer clothes out ........................
