My Life in Pictures

Sallie

It's her 7th birthday today. Sallie and her sister Suzie came into our lives last December as an early Christmas gift to ourselves after their terminally ill owner surrendered them to a Siamese rescue. As they were extremely loved and pampered, it took them a very long time before they started warming up to us. Finally, about a month ago, we knew they were "home" when their true personalities emerged and started playing their favorite games, such as hopping up and down our bed while we were sleeping. In fact, it's getting so bad that we may have to keep them out of our room in order to get a decent night's sleep.

The dogs have recovered from their poisoning ordeal. However, we're still traumatized. Our questions remain unanswered. Our veterinary hospital, like most clinics, does not have a poison identification system. We're hesitant about reporting to the authorities and we try to accept the veterinarian's theory: something, perhaps some chemicals applied to a neighbor's lawn, got somehow pooled into our backyard after a heavy rain since our property sits on a slight incline. I hope it's true, because I'd hate it so much if we knew one of our neighbors could be mean enough to hurt us.

It's starting to warm up outside. It looks like we'll have a warmer Easter Sunday. We have no plans to spend the holiday with family; most likely, we'll eat out for dinner.

My niece/goddaughter and her boyfriend eloped on Tuesday and they're honeymooning in Scotland. Their youth, their sense of adventure, their exuberant personalities and the excitement of starting their lives as newlyweds make me all teary.

No plans this weekend. Newby will be away overnight attending a fund raising event. Stitching, reading, and clearing up my DVR will be on my agenda.

Oh, I forgot one more thing before I sign off. Tomorrow, Holly and Belle will be done with all their meds, and I couldn't be more happier!
