Market Cross, Kirby Lonsdale

Woke up still with cold and the good weather had disappeared. But we went for our usual visit to Kendal and Farrar's coffee shop for a morning coffee. Then for lunch at The Sun Inn, at Kirby Lonsdale. A pub I would recommend. Some of the group were off to watch rugby there but with my cold I was not going to go and three of us had a wander around Kirby.

This blip was taken of the Market Square and this unusual feature. It is a covered Market Cross and I have just the following info:

Market Square has been the town's market place since the Georgian era, and most of the surrounding buildings date from that era. The gothic sytle covered market cross is of more recent date and was donated to the town in 1905 by a local vicar, Reverend Davies.

So meal tonight in our hotel and more chat and reminiscences about our erstwhile cricketing brilliance. Sadly it's all memories now!
