Ready for 'The Roar'

Autumn is such a wonderful time for photography of any kind, but there's something about  cool, misty mornings that lift to a golden glow that just stirs the soul.

I headed out to Geraldine early this morning, taking back a loan trailer that we used to bring back a load of bark chips yesterday, on the way home stopping to capture shots of deer.

We're in the midst of 'The Roar' - the rutting season where red deer stags and wapiti/elk bulls bellow almost continuously, their calls echoing across the paddocks.

I pulled up the truck next to a paddock where these handsome wapiti were resting in the golden sun. The cool air is visible here, as the warm breath of this bull hangs in the air.
