St. John the Evangelist

We left home soon after lunch to go the Yorkshire Sculpture Park,  goodness knows why as I profess never to go anywhere on a Bank Holiday  -   today I remembered why.  The village of Bretton was chock a block with cars as neither car park was allowing anyone in due to both of them being full.

There was nothing for it but to turn round and drive back home;  not that far, but all the same I wish I'd stayed in the garden instead of driving about the countryside.  Anyway on the way home we stopped off at the village of Lepton to have a look at the church and spend a pleasant half hour in the church yard where there was much bird song and a lovely fragrance on the breeze.

The building of the church commenced in October 1866 and was completed in 1868.
