Easter Monday

The day dawned sunny and bright - all the garden flowers were beaded with dew, making even the most humble garden plants like this aubrietia look a bit special.

After breakfast Pete and I headed out to a site he's surveying at Chatteris, having decided not to head down to Bedfordshire and risk the M1 on a Bank Holiday. The first hour or so was lovely, but by 11am a swathe of grey cloud had welled up, along with a brisk northerly breeze, making it feel really quite wintry.

Having walked round the whole site, we decided to head straight home for hot drinks and lunch. I worked at the computer for a while, but by 4pm the sun had re-appeared, so it was out into the garden for a spot of weeding. I also sowed the flower seeds I received as part of my Christmas present - it looks as though the weather's finally going to warm up a bit over the next week, so hopefuly they'll germinate at just the right time.

This evening we had our traditional Easter family meal of roast lamb and mint sauce - three hours of gentle cooking on a bed of mixed vegetables and garlic had made the meat meltingly tender. Pete prepared mint sauce, roast potatoes and tenderstem broccoli to accompany it - totally delicious.
