Road Sculpture

This sculpture is on the main highway from the airport to Ixtapa, smack dab in the middle of Zihuatanejo, but I venture to say many people, especially those behind the wheel, never look at it because it is located in the middle of an intense traffic circle. Vehicles are coming at you from all directions - merging from the side roads, whipping around the circle, crossing lanes of traffic to reach an exit, cruising straight through at highway speed - so one can barely glance in the direction of this 15 meter tall sculpture. Today I was on my bicycle in the park that makes up the traffic circle and was struck by the symmetry of the framing trees and the contrasting colors.
