Gnarled

A bright day with a chilly wind so a walk through the Chirk Castle woodlands seemed a good idea. It was great to see the first bluebells and wood sorrel of the year and lots of birds singing though they successfully avoided actually being seen!

This lovely piece of gnarled wood is at the base of the ancient sweet chestnut tree in the woods. It has lots of interesting twisted branches and patterned bark so there were quite a few contenders for today's blip.
