Ben Rinnes, Moray

Backblip

Arrived safely at our "wilderness cottage", about seven miles from Dufftown  in Moray.  This is the view from the back of the property and it's much the same for 360 degrees:-)  The eco-friendly cottage produces its own electricity from solar panels and a wind turbine, so you have to be careful not to try to use the kettle and the toaster at the same time!

However, don't let me give you the idea that we are roughing it, as this is wilderness luxury in a big way - underfloor heating throughout, a Rayburn stove, a woodburner, a huge wet room and beautiful, quality furnishings and fittings.  Just no TV, radio, wi-fi or mobile phone signal:-)  Bliss!!

The first mile or so of the track off the main road is metalled, but then the fun starts!  Pot holes, huge rocks, fords, hair-pin bends - we could see why a 4x4 was required! This will have to be negotiated both ways every time we go out, so hope the car is up to it:-)

There was the merest hint of snow left on Ben Rinnes, but Corryhabbie Hill immediately behind me when I took this photo still had quite a deep covering on its sides, so who knows what the weather will hold for us?
