Across the Beach and Out to Sea

15.4C with sunny sunshine all day long. Gentle breeze.

Maeve the Deerhound spent most of the morning out in the back garden, lying on the grass in the sunshine.

Maeve and I went for our walk after lunch. We went up to the church then continued out along the country road to Scryne. We turned right at Craigmill farm and went down the track to the shore road. We came back along the cycle path and went down to the beach at Westhaven via the level crossing. The tide was coming in but there was still plenty of beach to walk along. There were one or two other dog walkers.

We walked along East Row then stopped by the car park to take this shot across the beach and out to sea before we came back over the road bridge over the railway line and back up the main road and round to home. Maeve is beginning to feel the heat in these warm days. As soon as she got home she wanted out in the garden to find a shady spot, but she was soon back lying in the sun.

I went out into the front garden and picked as many dandelions (flowers and buds) as I could see out of the front lawn, removing one or two plants where I could. They pop up almost daily. I have tried digging them out, and applying gel weedkillers but they come back again.

Later I dug over the overgrown circular border in the middle of lawn three where we had wild flowers last year. I have sent to the Grow Wild Seed project (which we saw on Countryfile) for the seeds again this year and hope we will be lucky enough to get a packet. I will need to dig over the border again to make sure it is ready for seeds.

The heating advisor called with the result of the asbestos test. Positive result, which is bad news. He has arranged for the installation manager for the area to come along at 3.30pm on Wednesday to see if the installation of a new boiler can be done without disturbing the asbestos sheet under the current boiler (its removal is the awkward process) or whether nothing can be done without specialist work.
