Getting the sparkle back

Anna Atkins cyanotype

I went to the opening of an exhibition at Stills which features the work of two women photographers, Margaret Watkins, a modernist photographer who worked in the United States in the in the twenties, and Anna Atkins who began creating cyanotypes in 1843 as a means of recording botanical specimens. I knew about Anna Atkins as a little-known woman photographer and scientist and was bowled over by her work because of its age and beauty. The exhibition is on until 13th July, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it. Here's a link to the exhibition.
