The honeymoon period is over

Planning a trip to France for a birthday party. Gus, who owns the hotel in Vagnas where we have always stayed when visiting Matthew turns 50 in September. It's at times like this that the downside (one of many) of working in a school becomes obvious. Diana can't leave until 3:30 on the Friday and has to be back before Monday. That means flying is out of the question and the Eurostar costs a relative fortune for just a one night trip. Ce la vie (see how I slipped a bit of French in there).
