Conflict

Don't remember much about today, thanks to posing a week later. Weather was good. Mid-morning heard the sound of machinery in the forest and as hoped eventually saw the forwarder had arrived to clear away the logs.

Forwarder is a machine with a crane that picks up the logs and "forwards" them to the main forest track and piles them according to length, type etc. The forester then measure and marks the logs and piles before a truck, with its own crane, eventually picks them up.

When Angie arrived home she "took on" the monster. I had tried to get the driver's attention but failed. Quite daunting standing close to it swinging massive 5m long logs around in the air like matchsticks. She remained resolute and followed its path until eventually the driver turned off the motor. She wanted to ask him if he could do his best to flatten the path that had been destroyed over the last years by other forwarders.

This forwarder was equipped with wide metal caterpillar tracks and the driver admitted that even he would have got stuck if he had driven in the old ruts and he was forced to drive alongside, thereby flattening the old ruts.

Angie reported he had done a reasonable job, just the bit nearest to the house needs some improvement.
