Duomo

The day started off looking like it would be another relatively cool and damp day. We decided to take the bus into Como. This takes just under an hour. In places the road is very narrow as it passes through some of the villages. The skill of the drivers of the commercial vehicles is quite remarkable as they edge past each other with barely a couple of centimetres to spare.

We decided to visit the rooftop bar at the COIN department store. I was debating with myself whether or not it was warm enough to sit outside, we decided to take the risk. While we were having lunch the sky cleared, and far from being warm enough we were almost too hot.

After a very pleasant lunch, though not particularly cheap, we passed the afternoon before getting the bus back to Lenno. Passing through Laglio it is possible with the extra height of a bus, to see George Clooney's villa. I had read in one of the English newspapers that he had been at Laglio over the weekend. Everything looked quiet as we went past.

In the evening we had dinner at the local pizzeria. Here it was anything but quiet by the time we were leaving. Roughly 25 police were having a dinner there also. The restaurant is not small, but it felt like it had been take over by the constabulary. How the pizza oven was going to cope with preparing 25 pizza I am not sure, I wonder how many they can prepare simultaneously.

Early start tomorrow as we head to the airport on our way back to Aberdeen.
