Red Velvet

I don't have much luck with growing Anemones, this one was planted last year but didn't flower, so was so pleased to see it shinning brightly this morning. The day started of sunny then the sea fog seem to descend on the city this afternoon.

My friend come around all up set this afternoon because her mother had just past away this morning. He mother was in her 90's and hadn't been well for some time but it is always a shock when it happens. We had a good chat and hugs along with some coffee. So pleased she called in as she lives on her own and finds things hard at times.

I looked up what Anemone means and was so surprise..it is very fitting for this day of loss.
Anemone blossom stories are mostly about death – that’s why its blossom is often liken with being forsaken or left behind.  As it was with the death of Adonis, Aphrodite cried and mourned for her love and from her tears sprung these beautiful flowers.  Another variation of this story is that, the white anemones turned red when Adonis’ blood fell into it.
For the Christian version of the meaning of anemones, it’s a symbol of the blood that Jesus Christ shed on the cross.  That’s the reason why you’ll see a bunch of anemones on several paintings of the crucifixion.
