round the bend

After a wet morning we got out and wandered around Rose End Meadows in Cromford. First time we have been there and what a treat. Its little known paths through untouched woods and small fields that have never been touched by fertiliser making it an sssi . The bluebells and other wild flowers were beautiful, I will go back when the wild orchids are in flower.

The blip is at the edge of the reserve looking down onto Via Gelia a steep bendy road well used by motorbikes on the way to Matlock Bath. I liked this different aspect of a road I often only see from tarmac level.

We did get caught in a couple of heavy downpours so thought we deserved coffee down in Cromford followed by another wander along the canal to see the dabchicks. Also spotted a water vole peeping out (see extra).

On the #BTCB news the female is still dutifully incubating and turning the eggs. Im hoping for the first new chick on Wednesday.

As ever I really appreciate the recent stars, hearts and comments, thank you all.
