Centerpiece

Saturday
This morning the knitting ministry at church had a special brunch to celebrate having given away our 500th prayer shawl - in fact it's up to 510 now. As well as the shawls, we also knit sweaters for Knit for Kids or Comfort Foundation (helping orphanages in Russia), baby blankets for Project Linus and scarves and mittens, also for the Comfort Foundation. We all were so taken with the centerpieces, provided by MaryAnn, with flowers from her own garden. Joan, who founded and leads the Knitting ministry spoke a bit about the development of the ministry and several of us shared about some particular prayer shawls we had knitted and the people they went too. It was a lovely occasion, with great food and fun fellowship, and an encouraging reinforcement of the comfort that our prayer shawls bring to people.
This afternoon Roger and I did more work in the yard, before going out for a bike ride on the Little Miami trail. Our yard work was much more comfortable than last weekend when the temperatures were around 90 - today was a very pleasant 70, with a nice breeze!
