Marjorie's ramblings

The joys of travel

Today's journey to Bulgaria was not ideal. Our early morning flight from Newcastle was delayed for latecomers. They were completely brazen about being late after the rest of us had been standing on the bus, packed in like sardines, for over 20 minutes. At Charles de Gaulle airport worse was to come. The plans taxied for 20 mins then we had a long bus journey to the terminal followed by another bus journey to the next terminal, THEN a huge queue for security with no system of getting people through if their flights had been called.

We made it too the gate but too late. We then had 9 hours in the departure lounge in an airport with few facilites (apart from massage and oxygen!).
Boredom quickly set in. After 6 hours some of us started doing stretching exercies. I promptly overbalanced and landed hard on my back on the floor (concrete). Ouch.

We arrived in Sofia at 11pm tired and scruffy but we never want to see CDG airport again.

On the mini bus ride (2 hours) to the hotel we ate a welcome meal of chicken salad.

Tomorrow things will look better I'm sure (and perhaps the hotel will have hot water by then too.......)
