Adventures

5years 203days

Boy have we packed it in today!! We were at the swimming pool not much after 7. We are struggling to fit our swim together in at the weekend right now and we both love it. We discovered recently that if she's going to swim lengths, they will let her in the Early Birds session. So off we went! By 8.30 she had done over 20 lengths (I lost count), got ready for school and had a cooked breakfast in Tesco's cafe.

We took her to school where it sounds she's had a good day. Her and her little friend got on the "Happy Face" for doing some excellent number work. Her teacher showed them some little videos about Dangerous Creatures and one of them was the Bird-eating Spider, to carry on from work that she had introduced to the class as a result of a Katie-project she had been given. She was really chuffed. I had to pick her up early to take her to the dentist. Her teacher met me and explained that she had a stack of books this time as she was interested in a book she'd seen in the classroom, then when he'd taken her to choose her homework books from Y2, she'd seen a fourth book that she wanted to read. He seemed to find it really amusing. It's just the thirst for books that I have been trying to tell them about all year!

She was brilliant at the dentist - it was her first visit after the extraction and she was definitely wary. She had insisted on changing into her onesie after school (after the extraction, all she'd wanted was jammies) and taken Monkey. The guard was definitely up. But she went in, sat on the chair all by herself for the first time and did great.

After the dentist, we headed home and arrived to Grandad and Granny! We had arranged last night that for a change we would head out. Katie had asked to take them to see the bluebell woods. She had a wonderful time. She loves exploring there. She climbed some trees, walked around, played hide and seek and just loved having Grandy, Granny and Blipbear to share it with.

Home for a little bit of piano practice while tea was cooking, her first try of Gold Top milk with Grandad (gee, that was a wonderful face - she adored it!) and cream cakes for pud. After they'd gone, we snuggled in bed and did one of the school reading books. It was about tigers. A nonfiction. A photographic nonfiction. In which a tiger kills a deer and is shown with its bloodied mouth, devouring its prey. She read it so well. With tears rolling down her face. I quickly turned the page!
