Broom Plant

Last year this plant didn't do very well and got only a few blooms.  Today I walked thru the garden looking for photos and I spotted it full of flowers.

Broom plants are dense, slender green stems and very small leaves.  Most have yellow flowers but there are a few, like this one, that are pink/orange.  It grows as a hardy, deciduous flowering shrub. Thin branches arch upward, reaching maximum heights of 6 feet.

Today was a hot one.  I have to start dressing a little lighter.  I was melting by late afternoon wearing longs sleeves and jeans.  The pool was opened today.  It will take a few days of running the filter before it is ready for swimming.  Hopefully for the upcoming holiday weekend.
