From Tiny Acorns

At the back of the garden are a handful of flowerpots with small trees in them. Each year I collect a few acorns, chestnuts, whatever catches my eye, and of those a number germinate and grow. In time these get surreptitiously infiltrated into the local landscape in a sort of guerrilla druidry, but one or two find a home here. There's a thriving oak sapling in the chicken run that is now about five feet tall and covered in the most beautiful green leaves. And this one, which is much smaller, sits in a pot by the garden shed. Looking down on it, the colours in the leaves are spectacular. He won't grow so tall, being pot-bound, but one day there may be little acorns...
