Diary of an Edinburgher

Seymour!

Three tests today for Archie, and he passed them all.

We went across the Links and headed to the Polwarth dog friendly cafe. Haven't been there for ages, and I know the owners were getting a wee puppy. We're very cautious with Archie around puppies, because once, away in the distant past, he was quite aggressive towards one. But this was BtS (Before the Snip). Also, he's never shown any aggression since then. But I was a bit wary when I came into the cafe.

There was the cutest wee Boston Terrier, Seymour! But I needn't have worried - Archie was kind and patient with the exceedingly bouncy excitable wee pup. They played and played. Mainly it was Seymour grabbing Archie's beard, but he didn't mind. He was like a big sensible grown up. Well done Arch.

I was very impressed with Seymour, who already knows that he can't go behind the counter, and will go back to his bed when told to. And he can do a good trick - ringing a bell! What a wee smasher he is. (You have no idea how long it took me to get this photo!)

On the way back through the Links, a wee girl came running up and asked to pat my dog. Archie came and sat nicely and let her pat him. Mind you, kibble was involved. But well done Arch.

Archie's 3rd test today was walking calmly past intimidating groups of very loud, shouty, sweary, teenage hooligans schoolchildren. They crowd the pavement and would have happily forced me off it, had not Archie just trotted on through the middle of them and made them give way. A month or so ago he would have barked and barked at them. Well done Arch.

Tennis this afternoon.

Watching, not playing!

PS October holiday booked.Very exciting!! Though no butlers are involved...
