A First for Archie

Archie took part in his first Dog Show today. And I'm disappointed to report that no, he did not win 'Best in Show' nor yet did he win 'Most Handsome Dog'. We're biased, of course, but the whole show was run by the Scottish Staffordshire Bull Terrier Rescue Charity, and those breeds featured in rosette winners in every class - even the 'Prettiest Bitch' class. Bailey, Archie's wee schnauzer friend should have won that one. Did I say we were biased?

There were about 30 dogs in Archie's 'Most Handsome' group. When the judge came round to Archie, she barely looked at him (or the sweet Bedlington terrier beside him) before moving on. JR didn't even get a chance go through with her intention of mentioning that his grandfather and father were both Crufts champions! Though I do think she was kidding...

However, it was such fun - Archie was fantastic - he behaved so well. He must have thought he was in heaven as dog after dog walked past him round the ring and he could look at them and sniff them. No fuss. For a lot of the time at the ringside, he and Bailey were playing together.

On the way home we stopped off at a dog friendly pub in Aberlady and had fish 'n' chips for lunch outside! And sticky toffee pudding.

It was such a nice day - 19° out of the wind (14° in it) that we stopped off at the beach. Archie didn't find anything dead to eat or roll in, but he had a lovely time running around, keeping his feet well out of the waves. A wee van with ice cream was most welcome.

He was sick on both journeys. :-(

He may not have won anything, but to us he's 'Best in Show'.       :-)
