Showers over Ullswater

It was the second day of the Twin Peaks Orienteering Event today and, as the forecasters predicted, the day began with a swathe of showers crossing the Lake District.  We were based in the same Assembly area today but were competing on Angle Tarn Pikes.

We arrived early at the carpark so I took a walk back along yesterday's route to the start to get this blip looking across the southern end of Ullswater to Patterdale.  It sums up the morning weather pretty accurately.

I made a silly mistake en route to my first control which cost me several minutes and probably a couple of placings but after that it was tough physically but I was pretty much spot on with the remainder of the course.

As we walked back down the fell side from the remote finish, the skies cleared and the views were superb, but sadly no camera!  We passed Kiteseeker heading back up with her camera so hopefully she blipped that view before the cloud came in again!

To save cooking we stopped off at Wilfs in Staveley on the way home, always good food!
