On the run

In the past few weeks, I've seen a maximum of three cubs at once and I was worried about the fourth. This morning, all four were out and all four were very interested in the run where the guinea pig trio had spent the night. At one point, three cubs were lying on top of the run. I've recently reinforced it with clips to stop it being prised open. They will also keep it together with the extra weight! See the extra picture for all four cubs.

As I left to go to work, I caught a glimpse of Panda sniffing the far corner of the run. I thought she might have been nose to nose with Whisky (they do this sometimes), but no, the smallest of the guinea pigs was nosing a cub! No harm done, but I might have to have a stern chat.

I met a neighbour this evening to chat about finding a Play Street near to our road. Our street is too long and hilly for a play street, and linked to a main road, so we picked a neighbouring one. We'll start chatting to the folk who live there to see if there's a chance we can go ahead. A play street is a time and a place where, for one afternoon a month, a street is closed to through traffic. The closure is stewarded by volunteers, kids can play, and neighbours can meet each other and chat. Cars can even go in and out of the street, but they have to be walked through by stewards.

Tonight's discussion has a plus already – I'd not met this neighbour before despite us both living on our road for eight years! The play street project has got us talking.

Fred's away to Inverness, flying instead of the sleeper this time. However, the plane landed in Edinburgh! It was a navigation error (!!) The entire planeload of passengers piled into taxis and driven to Inverness. Fred got in around 3am. Good grief.
