Slightly misleading impression

On long car journeys, we like to amuse ourselves by reading the straplines on lorries bigging up whatever company it is. The best one we saw on Friday during a 9 hour journey to Norfolk was one saying "where trailers come first". So that particular company obviously specialises in putting the tractor unit behind the trailer. Weird... Unfortunately, we didn't manage to catch that one.

The reason the photo is a little misleading is that it somehow suggests a smooth journey. Or maybe not, because there's a lot of traffic about, and indeed that was most of the problem. Every road we travelled on was absolutely packed, and basically the A1 from Scotch Corner to Newark was pretty much stop/start, with quite a lot of the former. We were pooped by the time we arrived at our accommodation (not quite a hotel) but we cheered up with a meal out with my sister and her partner, assuring ourselves that the preparations for tomorrow's big event were progressing well. So that was another load off our collective minds....

A fairly early night - and a much needed sleep.
