Athyrium - Japanese painted fern - one of my favs

From two small plants I now have many shady areas in my garden carpeted with this fern that has great texture and lovely gray-green foliage flushed with maroon.  It is a wonderful backdrop to other shade loving spring blooming primroses, cowslips, anemones, hyacinths and 'foam flower' which will show its frothy blooms soon.  I have shared many divisions of this colorful fern with my family, friends and local gardeners.  I've just been given some cobalt blue pots that I plan to use on my front entrance steps - I think one of these ferns in each will complement the cobalt blue and the (old Colonial Red - now maroon/pinkish) siding of my house really well.
