Poppy Head

This poppy was growing beside the road, along with a few others.  I thought it was very beautiful and chose it as my blip for today.  I have had to cut it and bring it inside as the weather is so rough it would not look much photographed in position.  There are plenty of others.  I put an extension tube n the 50mm lens to get in close!  The future poppy head looks like a mop of unruly hair.

We have our first Camera Club evening of the summer programme tonight.  Theoretically we are on Coombe Hill for a picnic.  We may get blown down the hill sooner rather than later to a local hostelry unless the wind drops.

I have just added in the magnificent skyscape from the top of the hill.  It was VERY windy - hard to hold the camera steady - and got quite cold. There was quite a large group who made it out; we soldiered on though and enjoyed our picnic by the monument.  It was good to get into the warmth of the Shoulder of Mutton later on.
