Aquamarine/Nanna K's Day

By NannaK

Low tide

The beach was covered with so much green seaweed at low tide today -all different shades.  This is a moon snail egg case that's only visible on the beach at very low tide, almost covered with seaweed.
Counted my 50m stretch of rocks for sea stars today and counted 37!  All looking healthy!  And 3 small sun stars..
Part of my weekly challenge with the iPad.....

Edit:
I added an extra photo of one of the small "sunflower stars" that were asked about.   they grow in the north pacific and atlantic- many varieties.   these here get very large - -1 meter - and can have more than 20 legs.  this one is 4-5 inches. it's upside down -think it was feeding on the rock on top...There's also a sea cucumber in  that photo.
Here's a purple Sea star (Starfish, same thing..)
